8:30am - 11:30am
The Indian Wedding Ceremony begins with a parade that customarily includes the groom's side called the "Baraat". The parade represents the groom's family and friends celebrating and dancing as they travel to the bride's hometown for pre-wedding rituals. In contemporary times, the Baraat immediately precedes the wedding ceremony.
After the groom arrives at the ceremonial grounds for the wedding, he is received by the bride's family and friends. Then guests are directed to take their seats in anticipation of the wedding ceremony rituals.
Visit the Wedding Ceremonial Rituals, Explained page for information regarding each portion of the wedding ceremony and its significance to us.
Either Western or Indian wedding attire is appropriate.
Indian attire tends to be detailed and lavish. Western attire tends to be formal.
Traditionally, the bride wears red, and her outfit is heavily decorated. It is not possible to outshine Christy.
Check out our FAQs for where to find Indian attire.
